Managing your ETT certification in the state of Alaska EMS licensure system

Initial Certification for ETT's include:

To be eligible for initial ETT certification, applicants must:

  • Be at least 14 years of age;
  • Successfully complete a State of Alaska-approved ETT Initial training course;
  • Pass both: the ETT written final exam and complete a portfolio of vital skills within 12 months of course completion, verification must be by a state-certified Instructor;
  • Provide proof of current CPR certification that includes adult, child, and infant CPR with AED and two rescuers from an approved provider (e.g., American Red Cross or American Heart Association) .
  • Submit an ETT initial application via the State of Alaska Licensing Management System. https://emsdata.chems.alaska.gov/licensure/public/alaska/portal#/login

Renewal Certification (Current)

Applicants who are currently ETT certified must:

  • Complete at least 16 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) or an approved refresher course;
  • Submit a peer-reviewed and signed skills checklist (verified by a state of Alaska EMT-1 or higher);
  • Hold a current Healthcare-CPR certification (adult, child, and infant CPR)

Renewal Certification (Expired < 12 months)

Individuals whose ETT certification has expired are not authorized to practice or represent themselves as Emergency Trauma Technicians until their certification has been renewed and verified as active.  

Applicants with an expired ETT certification must:

  • Complete an approved ETT refresher course;
  • Submit a peer-reviewed and signed skills checklist- verified by a state of Alaska EMT-1 or higher;
  • Hold a current Healthcare provider CPR certification from an approved provider (e.g., American Red Cross or American Heart Association);
  • Submit an ETT renewal application with all required documentation through the State LMS system  https://emsdata.chems.alaska.gov/licensure/public/alaska/portal#/login

If you have an account and have forgotten your User ID, please click “Forgot User ID.” An email will be sent to the email on file with log in information. If you’ve forgotten your password, click “Forgot Password.” An email will be sent to the email on file with log in information.

If you are not sure or no longer have access to the primary email address on file, please email emsinfo@alaska.gov with your full name, updated email address and state staff will update your profile and assist you in regaining access. You only have 12 hours to respond to verification emails.  If you have trouble logging in, Please Don’t create another account. Email: EMSinfo@alaska.gov for help in resetting your existing account.

IMPORTANT: Previously certified student that were moved to the state system within the last two years will need to complete an " update application". This is a one time update. If you need to do this, you will see a yellow banner across the top of your screen. This only updates your profile. This is NOT an ETT application.  This will bring the transferred account to a current status with your current information. We recommend you use a personal email. New account creation: 

New students taking ETT classes will create an account at the Alaska EMS Licensure Management Site. Please make sure you do not already have an existing account. [follow the direction above if you believe you do have an account] 

State-Of

Your instructor will let you know if you need to enroll in their class, or they will add you to the course roster. You can search for a course on the portal education look up feature. [https://emsdata.chems.alaska.gov/licensure/public/alaska/portal#/education/findcourses ] 

Upon completion of your class, your instructor will upload your test scores and mark your course complete with a pass/fail and upload your skills portfolio sheets.

You must then log back into the LSM system and submit an ETT application. [ either initial or renewal application] 

IMPORTANT: Go to “Applications”, then “my applications”, then select the ETT Initial or Renewal Application. This is the same process for all EMT levels. *Each EMS License Level you must submit an individual application after a course. (even though ETT is certified through the SEREMS office, you must submit an application just as other levels do in the portal) 

Submitting an ETT Application: 

  1. Log into the State of Alaska EMS Licensing System ( LMS Portal) 
  2. On the left hand side you will find the applications tab. 
  3. Fill out the appropriate application to obtain either an ETT Initial Certification or an ETT Renewal Certification. 
  4. Hit submit. 
  5. You will receive an email prompting you to pay a $25.00 certification fee at our website. (some instructors cover this for their students so ask your instructor for details) 
  6. The system will verify your education or class or your CME. 
  7. Your certification will be available to download from the portal on your account page

The application will ask you to confirm you have a valid CPR card and meet the requirements of certification, including submitting a copy of your ETT skills portfolio sign off sheet. 

Youth 18 and younger are always Free. You can also purchase ETT patches and pins at our store.

Your ETT Certification will then be visible in the public viewing area, along with other EMS clinicians. You will also be able to log in and download a copy of your certificate or wallet card.
