SEREMS Staff Members

Roberta “Bobbi” Leichty is a 38 year Alaskan resident having migrated from the Midwest to settle on Prince of Wales Island. She took her first ETT class in 1979, helped establish the Craig EMS and eventually becoming an EMT 3 in 1990.  In 1998, she became a paramedic through the first Ketchikan Fire paramedic course ever offered and completed her clinical/ride time with Seattle’s Medic One program.  She served as a SEREMS Board member for 10 years until she was hired as an interim Regional Training Coordinator for a year – then interim Executive Director before moving to Sitka in 2002 to become the permanent Executive Director.

Anjela Johnston is our training Coordinator

Anjela moved to Alaska on a bluebird-sky day in April, 1997 and started with SEREMS in 2006 as a temporary training coordinator. She loves Southeast Alaska, muddy XtraTuffs and walking in the rain. She loves working with community EMS departments and carries Dr. Copass’s inspirations as a guiding tool. You will find her coordinating trainings at our annual symposium, setting up challenging remote classes and making sure we do it with the utmost integrity along the way.

Virgil has been with SEREMS since 2016. He loves Southeast Region EMS volunteers and is always happy to help our local departments.

DeVynarae Barker, our Special Programs Coordinator

DeVynarae Baker, newly wed, came to Alaska in 2017 as an Americorps Volunteer. She quickly fell in love with all that Sitka Alaska had to offer as an avid outdoors woman and decided to make it her home. She joined the team here at SEREMS continuing her passion in working for Non-Profits in March 2019, shortly after completing her EMT class and becoming an EMT 1. When she isn’t hard at work , or volunteering with the local fire department she is out enjoying the great outdoors with her husband and dog.
